Suspects arrested with sugar unfit for human consumption

The raid was carried out by the Consumer Affairs Authority on a tip off received by the Western Provincial Intelligence Division.

The raid was carried out while the consignment of sugar was being transported from Pettah to Kalmunai.

The seized sugar has been sealed and the suspects have been released on bail under the Authority Act and the case is to be filed against them, the Authority said.
