Suwa Seriya to launch motorcycle emergency medical response service

The 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation has decided to introduce a motorcycle-based emergency medical response service aimed at providing faster access to patients requiring urgent medical attention.

According to reports, the service is being planned to improve the speed and efficiency of emergency response, particularly in areas where ambulances face delays due to heavy traffic congestion or road obstructions.

The motorcycle emergency response units are expected to operate in urban areas with high traffic density, including Colombo, to provide rapid first aid and basic medical care before an ambulance arrives at the scene.

The Suwa Seriya Foundation said the primary objective of the initiative is to ensure that patients receive immediate emergency assistance during the critical period before they can be transported by ambulance.

The service will be staffed by specially trained medical personnel and equipped with motorcycles carrying essential medicines and basic emergency medical equipment.

The programme is expected to be launched as a pilot project targeting Colombo and other urban areas before the end of this year. (Newswire)
