T20 invitational tournament, a good match exposure, says Praveen Jayawickrama
SLC Invitational T 20 league cricket tournament paved the way to get more exposure before the Asia Cup T 20 cricket tournament as well as T 20 World Cup tournament said promising leg spinner Praveen Jayawickrama. The 23 year old leggie who was adjudged the Best Bowler of the tournament added we got good match exposure as we missed LPL before the Asia Cup and T 20 World Cup. The invitational T-20 league tournament made good platform to the players who performed well during the international and domestic tournaments.
Praveen Jayawickrama also said I had bad patch during the last Bangladesh test series in Bangladesh. Actually that time I change my usual bowling action after discussing with my spin coach Piyal Wijetunga. However that difference couldn’t make good results for me. However once again I discussed with coach Piyal Wijetunga to go back to my early usual action and now I realized I came back strongly with my performance and very happy to finish highest wicket taker at this tournament and to earn Best Bowler award.
I don’t know whether I can enter the Asia Cup team and that team is still not officially announced but I think spinners did good role at this tournament. If I will enter the National squad for the Asia Cup I will do my best to teams’ success.
I had to give my regards to my coaches to come up with this standard. Earlier Assistant coach to the Spin department Ajith Ekanayake did real work to my success while Piyal Wijetunga Sir was always behind us. The SLC is giving their best support to uplift cricketers to come up with this type of tournaments which is good for all local cricketers. The three day inter club cricket tournament will commence from August 19 while after this invitational T-20 league cricket tournament local cricketers are busy with read ball cricket from August.
The tournament Committee chairman of SLC Samantha Dodanwela and his team did good job to make the T20 tournament a success while attractive cash awards for the champion, runner up teams as well as individual award winners were given. The Vice President of SLC Dr Jayantha Dharmadasa was the chief guest at the presentation ceremony.
Kusal Mendis was awarded the Best Batter and Man of the Final awards while Praveen Jayawickrama was adjudged the Best Bowler and Asitha Fernando was awarded Player of the Tournament.
