Police Sports Club, with some fresh talents in their ranks are looking to build up their side in the 2022/23 SLR Nippon Paint Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament. The Cops have boosted their side with the inclusion of few talented schoolboys, who had an outstanding season during the concluded Under-20 League and Knock-Out Rugby Tournaments.

Police SC are renowned for playing their own style of rugby over the years having dominated the domestic scene in the 1980s and 1990s where they emerged as league champions for six years in-a-row.

Last year too, they produced an impressive performance and were able to finish among the top four in the league tournament where they recorded victories over Air Force SC (11-3), CR and FC (20-3) and Army SC (25-7).

However, this time Police SC have lost both opening fixtures of the league tournament against Navy SC (7-15) and Army SC (23-25) but are confident of producing the desired results during the latter part of the season.

Despite their setbacks this year, Police SC will be confident because on both their outings they had the game under control but threw away their chances at the last moment.

In fact, they were leading 7-5 at half time against Navy SC at Welisara and they conceded a last-minute try to lose the second match against Army SC at Ratmalana.

Meanwhile, fly half Shaveen Jayawardana has been their standout player so far with a superb individual performance where he has contributed 15 points through three conversions and three penalties.

Skipper Nisala Samadhi along with three former Captains Udara Suriyapperuma, Rasith Silva and Mohan Wimalaratne are the seniors among the forwards while centre Rukshan Madushanka, Primesh Perera, Prince Chamara, Vihannga Pivithuru and Sachith Silva are the few exciting talent in this Police SC line-up.
