Tea exports dip in Jan.

Tea exports for January 2023 totalled 17.56 M/Kgs, showing a decrease of 3.26 M/Kgs vis-à-vis 20.82 M/Kgs of January 2022.

Türkiye emerged as the No. 1 major importer of Ceylon Tea in January 2023. (However with the earthquake this market is expected to dip.) Iraq has moved a place down to the No. 2 position from last year followed by Russia. UAE has moved down to the 4th position followed by Azerbaijan at the 5th position. Other notable importers are Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, Libya and Jordan, according to Forbes & Walker Research

Main categories of Bulk Tea, Packeted Tea and Tea Bags have shown a decrease when compared to the corresponding month of 2022. FOB value of Rs. 2,055.34 records a significant increase of Rs. 1,107.10 compared to Rs. 948.24 of January 2022.

FOB value of USD 5.66 records an increase of 0.93 in comparison to USD 4.73 of January 2022.
