National tea sales average for the month of May 2022 recorded Rs. 1,324.95 (USD 3.71), showing a marginal decline from the highest ever recorded average for a calendar month of Rs. 1,333.61 (USD 4.14) established in April 2022. In comparison to the May 2021 average of Rs. 609.52 (USD 3.12), the total average shows a significant increase of Rs. 715.43 YoY, whilst gaining 0.59 in USD terms as well.
It would be noteworthy that in USD terms, May 2022 average of USD 3.71 records a decrease of USD 0.43 when compared to April 2022 average of USD 4.14 according to Tea Brokers. High Grown average for the month of May of Rs. 1,053.07 (USD 2.95) recorded a decrease of Rs. 122.10 month on month vis-à-vis Rs. 1,175.17 (USD 3.65) of April 2022. When compared to the May 2021 average of Rs. 579.75 (USD 2.96), a significant increase of Rs. 473.32 is recorded YoY.
However, in USD terms records a marginal decrease of USD 0.01. Medium Grown average totalling Rs. 1,099.02 (USD 3.08) for the month of May 2022 recorded a decrease of Rs. 24.32 month on month vis-à-vis the previous highest of Rs. 1,123.34 (USD 3.49) of April 2022. When compared to the May 2021 average of Rs. 550.18 (USD 2.81), shows a significant increase of Rs. 548.84 YoY and in USD terms records an increase of USD 0.27. Low Growns recorded the highest ever average of Rs. 1,506.71 (USD 4.22) in May 2022 surpassing the previous best of Rs. 1,444.13 (USD 4.49) recorded in April 2022. It records an increase of Rs. 62.58 month on month and an astounding Rs. 866.37 YoY respectively with a gain of 0.95 in USD terms.
All elevations record a gain during the period of January-May 2022 when compared to the corresponding period of 2021 both in rupee and USD terms.
