Teacher accused of flogging 10 year old student arrested

A teacher accused of inhumanly flogging and injuring a grade five student of Lunama Maha Vidyalaya Ambalanthota has been taken in to custody by the Hungama Police.

The student who is ten years old had complained to her parents that the male teacher who was also her class teacher canned her regularly and had refused to attend school. The parents had informed the Principal of the school about the inhuman treatment their daughter was being subjected to, but no action had been taken. As the teacher had caned the girl again on Thursday, the parents had complained to the Hungama Police.

The teacher was to be produced before the Angunukolapelessa magistrate while the girl has been admitted to the Tangalle Base Hospital.
