Teacher robbed of necklace at Dansala

The Anuradhapura Police has received a complaint that a gold necklace worth around Rs. 500,000 and cash of Rs.19,000 were stolen from a female teacher who was standing in the queue on the day of Vesak Poya at a Dansala in front of Ruwanweli Maha Seya.

This teacher is a 37-year-old resident of Sivalakulam. Police say that she had come to Anuradhapura on Vesak Poya with a group of her family members.

A senior police officer mentioned that the theft took place in broad daylight when she and her family members went to the temple in front of Ruwanweli Maha Seya.
