Teachers must be patient at this time – UNP

Teachers should be more patient when it comes to resolving their salary anomalies considering the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country, former UNP MP Prof. Ashu Marasinghe said.

He was speaking at a press conference at the Sirikotha UNP Headquarters on Monday.

“Students in many areas do not have facilities for online education. The teachers asking for a pay hike cannot be justified in the prevailing context. The Government has ignored the problems in the education sector,” he commented.

“It is true that the Government should rectify the salary issues of the public servants, but we request the public servants to be more patient given the situation in the country,” he added.
