The Election Commission has taken steps to provide television and radio broadcasting facilities to recognised political parties and Independent groups running for the Presidential Election held on November 14, 2024.

The air time allocation for parties and Independent groups will be carried out through a draw to be held today (22) by the Election Commission in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and the Sri Lanka Television Corporation at 10 a.m. at the Colombo District Secretariat.

Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake mentioned that only the secretaries of recognised political parties and leaders of independent groups, who have submitted valid nomination papers for the 2024 Parliamentary Election, can participate in the drawing of air time. Besides, authorised representatives in writing of any political party or an Independent group can take part in the occasion, if the secretary or the leader of an independent group is unable to attend the event.
