Tharushi Thathsarani a talented cricketer from St Anthony’s Girls School
Twenty year old, Tharushi Thathsarani, an old girl of Vidyakara Maha Vidyalaya, Nuwara Eliya who joined St.Anthonys’ Girls School ,Katugastota in the year 2018 is a talented Girls Cricketer of the School under the coaching of Susantha Basnayake. She has been selected to the Under twenty one, Development Squad of Sri Lanka Cricket and she was the first woman Cricketer to be selected from the Nuwara-Eliya district.
She joined St.Anthonys’ Girls School to improve her Cricket ability and on the instructions of Laxman Panditharatne,former outstanding Cricketer of St Anthonys’ College she was coached by Jagath Wasantha , the District Coach at her School in Nuwara Eliya.
At present she is coached by Susantha Basnayake and she is a forceful Right hand batswoman & a right arm leg spin bowler. She kept wickets too when needed and playing for the Anthonys’ Girls Cricket team she kept wickets against Galewela Central School in a Tournament match and claimed Five victims behind the stumps. In the same year at this tournament as an opening Batswoman she scored forty eight runs against Marawila Central School and 83 runs against Maliyadewa Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala.
In bowling Tharushi’s highest achievement is claiming Three wickets for Twenty runs at the Super Four Provincial tournament against Galle District and in the year 2020 she scored Forty runs against Kandy District Cricket team. At present she is practising hard with the Provincial Coach of Sri Lanka Cricket, Amila Pinnaduwa and her intention is to end-up as a National and International Womens’ Cricketer and she is happy that she got this opportunity to join the Development Squad of Sri Lanka Cricket as she can fulfill her ambition by practicing hard and being in the National Womens’ Cricket team.
