Theft at Labunoruwa Monastery; computer, drone missing
The Moragoda Police had received a complaint on Wednesday that thieves had broken into two rooms where monks were meditating at the Labunoruwa Aaranya Senasana and stolen a computer and a drone camera. The police said that a computer used to computerize Ola Leaf (puskola) books and a drone camera which is used to film religious programmes from the air, when they are being held, have been stolen. Investigations have revealed that the theft took place during the period when the monks staying in these rooms were out of the Aaranya Senasana for a few days to participate in a religious programme.
Accordingly, it has been found that the theft had taken place between 6 am on July 21 and 9 pm on July 24.
Police said the theft had been committed by breaking open the doors of the rooms where the monks stayed and the value of the stolen property is about Rs.555,000.
The theft had been reported by a Homagama resident who claimed to be the secretary of the Aaranya Senasana.
