Thehan and Anjalika clinch Mixed Doubles title

Thehan Wijemanne teamed up with Anjalika Kurera to walk out winners of the mixed doubles final when they defeated Chathurya Nilaweera and Savini Jayasuriya in a thrilling three setter (6/1, 1/6, 10/08) at the 106th National Tennis Championship at SLTA courts. Meanwhile, in the Girls’ under-18 doubles final, Tuvini de Alwis of Methodist College and Pritihika Chandramohan of Asian International School outplayed Dewmini Warnasuriya and Nishka Vivekanandan 6/1, 7/6(5) to clinch the title

Meanwhile Two Royalists Nithila Goonetilleke and Thilina Dissanayake combined perfectly to defeat Sadaru Guruge and Ransath Peiris in the final 6-3, 6-1 to win the Under-16 boys double final

In the Under-16 Girls doubles final, Nesangi Hemakumara (Bishop’s College) and Vishmi Serasinghe of Ave Maria Convent Negombo beat Dinara and Saajida Razick 6-3, 7-5. Hasali Gajaba of Visakha Vidyalaya dominated Sajida Razick in two straight sets (6/1, 7/5) to clinch the Girls under-16 title while in the Boys

under-16 final, Vichinthaya Nilaweera of Stafford International defeated Zaidh Zihar 6/3,6/2 to emerge champion.

Int the Boys under-14 doubles final, Methwan Wijemanne of Royal College teamed up with Lisal Goonatilleke of S, Thomas College to outplay Jamal Zabry and Louis Knese 6/1, 6/2.

The Royalists Thehan Wijemanne together with Chathurya Nilaweera of Stafford International beat Kiran Vairavanathan and Dilvan Herath 6/3, 6/2 to win the boys under 18 double final. (D.R)
