Thejaka and Chamodya clinch under 20 chess titles

Thejaka Dissanayake of Dharmaraja College,Kandy and Chamodya Yapabandara of Girls High School,Kandy won the Under 20 Boys & Girls Chess Championship respectively at the recently concluded Sri Lanka Schools Individual Chess Championship held on 5th 6th and 7th of August,2022 at the Nattandiya Dhammissara National School Hall.

Over 2000 Competitors Girls & Boys in their respective age categories from Under 7 to 20 participated and there were 124 Under 20 Boys and 77 Under 20 Girls who competed at this tournament.

This event was organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Chess Association and Thejaka Dissanayake and Chamodya Yapabandara were the only Two winners from Kandy Schools.

1) Thejaka Dissanayake – Dharmaraja College,Kandy 2) R.H.S.R. Perera – Sri Sumangala College,Panadura 3) Aloka Fernando – Marie Stella College,Colombo

Under 20 – Winners(Girls)

1) Chamodya Yapabandara – Girls High Schools,Kandy 2) Sumudu Wijesinghe Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya,Gampaha 3) Sandaruvi Vithanage – Maliyadewa Balika Vidyalaya,Kurunegala.
