Thieves raid mango farm in Devahuwa
The Giranegama Police have started an investigation regarding the theft of over 1,800 Alphonso type mangoes grown in a three and a half acre land in Devahuwa Narangaswewa belonging to a woman.
Investigations have revealed that the theft took place between 7 p.m. on 8 and 10 a.m. the next day (9).
The owner has told the Police that a stock of mangoes worth nearly Rs.400,000 has been stolen. Police said that it appears that more than one person was involved in stealing these mangoes and it is believed that this stock of mangoes was probably taken out in a vehicle.
