Twelve year old Grade Seven student up and coming Karate Player, gold medalist in Karate, Champion Athlete, Chess and Volleyball Player Thihasna Sithumini has brought honour and immense glory to her Alma Mater Dhammissara National School Nattandiya and International Shotokan Karate United Academy with a deeds in the fields of Karate, Volleyball, Athletics and Chess fields.

Sithumini who hails from Makandura, Sandalankawa was born on July 18 2011 and admitted to her present school in 2017. When she was under 9 years of age she was the School Athletic Champion and her events were 50 and 100 metres and she easily won the events in 2018. Also she represented her school in the under 13 volleyball team at the Divisional Tournament and they were the runners up. When she was in Grade Two she commenced Chess and at the Provincial tournament she won the under 13 Championship.
Though she did athletics volleyball and chess following her elder brothers foot steps she showed an interest to karate and her parents Suranga Jayamaha and Hemamali Wijelatha noticing this admitted their daughter to International Shotokan Karate United Academy Pannala and she came under Sugath Kumara.
Her first attempt was in 2022 at the All Island MEIJI Cup Karate Championship and she won a Gold for Kumite and a Silver for Kata. Same year participating at the All Island Sri Lanka Schools Junior Championship and in the under 11 she came for the Best Eight. When at the first USHA Karate Championship she grabbed another Gold for Kumite and a SIlver for Kata and at the International First DSSSE Open Karate Championship she won Golds for Kata and Kumite and at the 12 th International GUJURU Shotokan Open Meet she won a Gold for Karate and a Bronze for Kata. Then at the Sri Lanka School Junior Karate Championship Provincial Meet in the under 13 event she won a Gold for Kumite and Silver for Kata and finally at the recently held Junior National Championship at Sugathadasa Stadium she won a Gold for Kumite and Silver for Kata and for a span of under two years she has won five Golds three Silvers and One Bronze.
