Third edition of LPL from December 6

The third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) cricket will be kicked from December 6 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium while the grand final will be held on December 23 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, said LPL tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela.

The player draft has already been finalised and five teams will compete in this event which is the most successful franchise cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket. The overseas players have confirmed their participation and the selected local cricketers including National players will join as well.

Three brand Ambassadors Sir Vivian Richards, Wasim Akram and Master Blaster Sanath Jayasuriya are expected to join this event added Dodanwela who is also an Exco member of the SLC.

“We have plan to conduct a simple opening ceremony at Hambantota. The second stage at Pallekele and then move to R. Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo on December 23. We have big challenges but already made arrangements to make this event a success”, said Dodanwela.
