Thirteen shed rioters remanded in Wellawaya

Thirteen persons arrested for behaving in an unruly manner at the IOC filling station in Wellawaya were remanded till July 12 by Wellawaya Magistrate.

They behaved unruly manner at the filling station after fuel brought for distribution ran out yesterday morning at around 1 a.m. Wellawaya police said that 13 persons who were rioting in front of the filling station and about 20 motorcycles without owners left near the shed have been taken into police custody. These rioters had attacked the filling station by hurling bottles and stones.

A Police officer who was injured following the incident also admitted to the Wellawaya Base Hospital. Two persons who sustained injuries during the clash have also been admitted to Moneragala Hospital.
