Thivanki Madumali the volleyball star from Ampara
When she was in grade four she participated in the Inter House Athletic Sports Meet and won places in Long Jump, High Jump, 50 and 100 metres and in the following year she did putt shot event and came third. Same year she participated for Inter House Cricket and Elle competitions and her team were victorious and Mrs.Waruni was the In Charge Mistress for all these games.
As she was reluctant to proceed with these games her father Thilakarathne Banda of 13th SLMB of Sri Lanka Army and mother Leelawathie Rathnayake handed over their daughter to the school volleyball coach Lanka Pushpakumara.
Then in 2014 she commenced volleyball in the same year her school team swept the board at the Divisional, Zonal, District and Provincial Tournaments and in the under eleven DSI Tournament they clinched the championship and she was adjudged as the Best Setter of the tournament In the All Island Schools Tournament and in the DSI Tournament they were the under 14 champions and Thivanki carried away the Best Setter’s award for the second time and in the All Island Tournament they could not come to expectations. In 2006 she participated for the Open Munchee Tournament and Open Dialog Tournament and in both these occasions they came third.
Then in 2017 they went through the normal procedure in lower level and they could not participate in the All Island Tournaments and in the under 17 age group they won the qualifying tournaments with ease and in the DSI Tournament they were runner up and in the Munchee, Dialog and Presidents Gold Cup they got the third places and at the same time Tissapura Vidyalaya could not take part at the Agamethi Balika All Island Girls Tournament. Their Principal the coach and the all other teachers helped and supported to achieve success.
