Those who evade debates don’t have any economic policy
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa criticized those who shy away from economic discussions due to the absence of a proper economic plan and team. In a statement made yesterday at an event held at the Rajapaksa Central College in Weeraketiya, Hambantota, he stressed the need for comprehensive and constructive economic debates to develop
and exchange ideas and proposals for the country’s economic future. Premadasa called on the National People’s Power (NPP) to allocate two consecutive days for discussions and decisions on economic matters, highlighting the importance of involving leaders in these debates. He stressed that a country on the brink of bankruptcy must engage in meaningful discussions to chart a clear vision, pathway, and plan for economic recovery.
During the event, which marked the donation of a smart classroom to the Rajapaksa Centeral College , Premadasa underscored the significance of public debates. He noted that such discussions are crucial as they allow the exchange of ideas and suggestions from various stakeholders, each bringing valuable perspectives to the table.
Premadasa assured that he and his team are not afraid of debates, contrasting this with those who avoid discussions due to a lack of economic vision, team, or plan. He reiterated that engaging in debates could help these individuals and groups formulate their economic strategies and plans.
Therefore, he urged once again for a dedicated two-day session to facilitate these important discussions.
