Three arrested for stealing Rs. 2.5 Mn worth Cardamom

Police officers arrested three persons who broke the locks of a container that was ready to be re-exported and stole 09 boxes of Cardamom worth Rs. 2.5 million at the Colombo Port.

This stock of Cardamom was found hidden in a container that was ready to be taken out of the port.

The container containing the Cardamom stock was brought from Malaysia to the Colombo Port and it was to be shipped to Chittagong Port in Bangladesh. The three suspects arrested with the stock of Cardamom are drivers. The investigation has revealed that they were taken to the port premises by another person and committed this theft. Police are investigating.
