Three arrested for stealing vegetables, three-wheeler

Piliyandala Police arrested three people, including a husband and wife, who stole a stock of Snake Gourd and Ridged Gourd from a vegetable cultivation in the Kottawa-Deepangoda area and tried to sell the vegetables at the Piliyandala weekly fair.

The suspects were arrested within hours after stealing the vegetables. Police seized 80 kilogrammes of Snake Gourd

and 60 kilogrammes of Ridged Gourd together with the three-wheeler used for transporting the stolen vegetables.

The Police say that the value of the vegetable stock is around Rs.140,000.

Mattegoda Police received information that a group of people had entered the cultivation early yesterday morning and stole the vegetables.The suspects are to be produced in Court.
