Three arrested over assault on Akurana hospital staff

Three persons have been arrested by the Alawathugoda Police in connection with an incident where a nurse

and a security guard were allegedly assaulted at the Akurana Shia Memorial Hospital.

Police said that the people arrested on suspicion are residents of Akurana area.

Police investigations have revealed that a jeep carrying the suspects was stopped in a manner blocking the road leading to the hospital and when the security officer of the hospital informed them to remove it, they attacked the security officer and the nursing staff.

The security officer and the nurse who were attacked have been admitted to Shia Hospital for treatment. According to a complaint made by the district medical officer of the hospital to the Alawathugoda police regarding the incident, the police arrested the suspects and seized the jeep.
