Three arrested over Baddegama shooting; heroin and car seized

Three suspects have been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting a shooting targeting a group travelling in a three-wheeler in the Halpathota area of Baddegama, Police said.

The arrests were made on Sunday (27) by officers of the Elpitiya Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau, which launched an investigation into the shooting reported earlier that day.

According to Police, a group travelling in a car had opened fire at several people travelling in a three-wheeler in Halpathota.

Following investigations, three suspects were arrested in the Peduruwaththa junction and Halpathota areas of the Baddegama Police Division.

Police also seized 16.170 grams of heroin and a car during the arrests. The suspects, aged 22 and 33, are residents of Kahawatta, Pallebedda and Hikkaduwa.

They are due to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court, while Baddegama Police are conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
