Three injured in Ragama shooting

Three individuals have sustained injuries in a shooting incident that was carried out by an unidentified person in the Walpola area in Ragama on Thursday (14) night. Investigations conducted by the Ragama Police have revealed that the suspect had arrived on a motorcycle and had called out to the people living in a house in the area.

One of the residents of the house who had managed to escape the shooting later revealed that the suspect had specifically called out the name of his uncle and asked for him to come outside the house.

He said that at the time of the incident, his aunt and their son had been in the front area of the house talking to the suspect, and as his uncle had come out, the suspect had carried out the shooting.

The suspect has fled the area immediately following the shooting. A 17-year-old boy and a woman were among the three persons that were injured in the shooting. They have been admitted to the Ragama General Hospital for immediate medical attention.

The Ragama Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
