Three killed, 42 injured in bus-van collision in Neluwakande

A bus plying on the Mahiyanganaya – Dambulla Road collided head-on at Neluwakande in Wilgamuwa Police area, killing three persons who were in the van and injuring 42 persons in the bus. Later, they were rushed to Wilgamuwa Hospital for treatment on Thursday (14) evening.

According to Police investigations, a group of persons who were on a trip in a bus collided with a van when they were coming back at Neluwakande near Wilgamuwa Police station. Three of them who were in the van were killed before admission to the hospital with serious injuries. Later 42 persons in the bus who sustained injuries were rushed to the Wilgamuwa Hospital.

During the collision, the bus had fallen into a precipice, the Police said. In this connection Wilgamuwa Police are conducting further investigations.
