Three shootings in Southern and Western Provinces
The spate of murders and attacks in the Southern and Western Provinces in recent times continued over the past three days as well with two murders and four people being injured.
The Ambalangoda Police said that a three-wheeler driver was killed in a shooting that took place in front of Dharmashoka College, Ambalangoda on Saturday night.
Police said that a 58-year-old father of three, a resident of Balapitiya Randombe died in the attack. According to Police, the deceased was a Three-wheeler driver at the Three-wheeler park at the Ambalangoda Bus Stand and he was on his way from Ambalangoda to his home in Randombe when he was shot. Police said two unidentified gunmen had shot at this person and fled.
Ambalangoda, Batapola Police say that a 38-year-old man was killed on Friday (23) night after being hacked with sharp weapons at a restaurant in the Batapola area.
A spokesperson of the Batapola Police stated that the suspects have now been identified and are believed to have fled the country.
Meanwhile, four individuals sustained minor injuries in a shooting incident that took place in the Dippitigoda area in Kelaniya, Police said.
The incident occurred when two men on a motorbike opened fire on a group on the roadside yesterday afternoon (25), Police said.
