Three suspects arrested with illicit liquor

Three suspects were arrested along with 320 litres of goda and 56 litres of illicit liquor in Kaluwankerny in the Eravur Police area by Batticaloa Police yesterday.

Incidents of distilling and selling illicit liquor rapidly increased in the Batticaloa District during the lockdown. Batticaloa Police OIC I.P.P.S. Bandara said that left overs of illicit brew have been thrown into tanks and ponds causing water and environmental pollution. The suspects were handed to the Eravur Police.
