Three children aged 13, 14 and 16 who allegedly stole six chickens and sold them for Rs.7,800 were arrested by the Alawathugoda Police.
These children are residents of Walahena area of Alawathugoda.Police investigations have revealed that these children have dropped from school due to a lack of proper attention from their parents.
According to Police, the three children met in one child’s house, planned the robbery and carried out the theft with the help of mobile phones. They had worn face masks while the theft was carried out.
Police have found four stolen chickens sold for Rs.1,500 and two more chickens sold for Rs.900 each.They were sold to a person in the Alawathugoda area. The minors arrested on suspicion have been placed on probation after being produced in court.
According to the instructions of the OIC of Alawathugoda Police Station Chief Inspector Sujeewa Gunathilaka, a team including the Acting Police Inspector Upul Seneviratne of the Crime Division are conducting investigations.
