Three-way tussle for Champions League Golden Boot Award
With the Football Sri Lanka (FSL) organised 2022 Champions League Tournament nearing its completion, the cynosure of all eyes is now on three top goal scorers who are vying for the coveted Golden Boot Award.
In fact, the contest for the FSL Champions League Golden Boot Award has turned out to be a three-cornered tussle between Asante Evans of Serendib SC, Oluwasseun Olawale from Java Lane SC and Nafshan Mohamed of Pelicans SC.. Overseas player Evans, the scoring machine of the Mawanella Club, is currently on top of the list having scored a total of 15 goals and he is closely followed by Java Lane SC’s foreign recruit Olawale and Nafshan of Pelicans SC with 13 goals each.
With just two more games left in the Champions League Tournament, all three players will look to get the maximum from the opportunities in their attempt to win the award. The two overseas players, Evans and Olawale will go head-on this week as Serendib SC will face Java Lane SC on Saturday in their penultimate fixture at the Maligapitiya Grounds in Kurunegala.
Meanwhile, Nafshan will get another chance to increase his goal-scoring tally when Pelicans SC take on Moragasmulla SC in their penultimate game on Friday at the District Sports Complex in Galle.
