Squashing charges of high cost of living in Sri Lanka, Times of India under their ‘Times travels’ December 2023 edition has named Sri Lanka as one of the cheapest countries to live in the world out of ten countries.
It has named Sri Lanka as the third cheapest destination to live after Vietnam and Cambodia. India, Nepal, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, Bolivia and Georgia follow in the top ten list.
Times Travel says that the local cost of living in these countries will not drain a person’s bank balance dry.
Commenting on Sri Lanka it says: “In Sri Lanka, the cost of living can vary depending on the region. Places like Kandy and Galle are relatively cheaper than the capital city of Colombo.” The report says that though these ten countries are cheaper to live in, this does not mean they have low living conditions. “It is important to note that a cheap cost of living does not mean low living standards. These countries are affordable and also let you have a good living standard.”
