DH Tissarachchi of B2F Boxing Club and DP Manatunga emerged as the Men’s and Women’s Best Boxers, respectively, at the recently concluded Intermediate Boxing Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Boxing Association. The tournament took place from August 22 to 25 at the Royal College Mas Arena.

In a thrilling showdown, Tissarachchi, representing B2F Boxing Club, showcased his exceptional boxing prowess as he overcame a formidable opponent, WP Aravinda of Sri Lanka Navy, to secure the coveted title of Men’s Best Boxer. Meanwhile, AD Madhusanka, representing Sri Lanka Police, earned the distinction of Best Loser in the tournament by defeating DD Bandara of Sri Lanka Army Boxing Club.

On the women’s front, DP Manatunga of an impressive Kamburupitiya Boxing Club performance earned her the Women’s Best Boxer Title, after a spirited bout against HR Himasha of Kamburupitiya Boxing Club.

All gold and silver medal winners in the tournament have now secured their spots in the upcoming Laton Cup scheduled for next month and the Clifford Club tournament to follow, both organized by the National Federation.

The Intermediate Boxing Tournament featured 19 weight categories, resulting in a total of 38 gold and silver medalists who have now qualified for the highly anticipated upcoming tournaments. In the Men’s Category, AD Madhusanka of Sri Lanka Police was recognized as the Best Loser for his remarkable performance throughout the competition. In the overall team rankings, Sri Lanka Army asserted their dominance by securing the title of Overall Champions with an impressive tally of 10 gold medals. Sri Lanka Navy claimed the Runners-up position with an impressive six gold medals, while Kamburupitiya Boxing Club clinched the Third Place with one gold medal.
