Not advocating for devolution of power

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MPs had told President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday that although not advocating for the devolution of power, they are strongly in favour of an election at this time.

The TNA MPs had insisted that they do not want devolution of power at this moment but want an election. The TNA MPs had mentioned the above when they met the President at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The TNA MPs had attended the meeting following a request by the President.

The MPs who participated in the discussion had said that the devolution of power was not their business and it was a matter for the government to deal with.

Acknowledging the request of the TNA MP’s, President Ranil Wickremesinghe had said that a decision about an election should be taken not by him but by the agreement of the party leaders in Parliament.
