The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is ready to vote in favour of the No-Confidence Motion (NCM) tabled by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), TNA Jaffna District MP M.A. Sumanthiran said.
Speaking to the media, the MP said that the TNA had opposed the executive presidency not recently but since many years ago.
He said the No-Confidence Motion against the President and the government will clearly end in a victory and added relevant parties were discussing the next steps to be taken after that victory.
Sumanthiran said that a thorough study of the political crisis in the country should be done at this juncture and that decisions would be taken on the future course of the TNA based on the information obtained from such a study.
He also said that the TNA was opposed to the sudden imposition of a State of Emergency by the President and that his Party had been fighting to repeal the Emergency since the war.
