TNA requests meet with PM Modi in March visit
Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader R.Sampanthan said that TNA had requested a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss issues related to the Tamil people if the Indian Premier visits Sri Lanka in March as announced earlier.
Speaking to the media, the TNA leader said that, however, the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka had not yet confirmed about a possible visit to the country by the Indian Prime Minister in March.
Sampanthan while speaking to journalists also recalled that several Tamil parties and Muslim parties sent a letter to Modi requesting him to intervene in solving issues faced by the Tamil people in Sri Lanka.
Sampanthan said if the Indian Prime Minister visits Sri Lanka in March it would be an opportunity to discuss related matters including the issues related to Indian fishermen breaching maritime boundaries and difficulties faced by northern fishermen due to it.
