India became the second best destination with flights operating to both Colombo and Jaffna international airports. Total Indian arrivals stood at 26,161 in February so far. The free visa on arrival, good air connections were the key to increase on Indian arrivals while the introduction of UPI facility where Indians could pay in their own currency too would be a major incentive to travel to Sri Lanka.

The United Kingdom with 18,702, (10% of the total number) Germany with 13,767 (7%) were the third best sourcing market for Sri Lanka Tourism. Observers say that China with 13,355 arrivals is expected to be a major contributor for Sri Lanka Tourism during upcoming months where markets such as Russia are expected to dip with the ending of the winter season.
