Sri Lanka tourist arrivals up to December 17 totaled 1,377,701 and are set to pass the 1.5 million mark for 2023. Last year Sri Lanka attracted less than half of this amount (719,978).
In 2022 December Sri Lanka had 91,961 arrivals and from December 1 to 17, 2023 the country attracted 100,750.
The arrival of three cruise ship in one day medicated by Aitken Spence Travels also boosted Sri Lanka arrivals while the introduction of new Airline SkyUp, from Warsaw to Mattala from yesterday will further boost tourist traffic.
Currently 14% of tourist arrivals (14,156) in December 2023 to Sri Lanka consist of Russian arrivals.
Once again India remained the top source destination for Sri Lanka accounting to 20,597 arrivals from December 1 to 17 (21%) while UK was the third with 10,281 (10%) while Germany (7,459) and China (5,099) were in fourth and fifth places.
