Tourists visiting Galle Fort will not be charged – Minister
Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake told in Parliament yesterday (6) that no money will be charged from tourists who come to visit the Galle Fort.
He said that money is collected only from tourists who come to visit museums and other interesting places and the minister mentioned that money is also collected for maintenance work.
The Minister said this while replying to a question raised by MP Gayantha Karunathilaka during the debate on the expenditure heads of the Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministries.
The minister who commented further said; The Galle Fort has gone into a serious crisis today.
Today, the wall of the Fort has collapsed. This requires money. But no money is charged from those entering or staying in the hotels.
