Traditional doctors to be registered with Ayurvedic Medical Council from today
State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Sisira Jayakody said that his Ministry will begin the programme to register traditional doctors around the country with the Ayurvedic Medical Council, starting with the Matale District, today.
The Minister said that this is the first time in the country’s history that the government officials will go to the places where traditional doctors are practising and register them with the council.
The Minister also stated that the Ayurvedic Medical Council registration will also be given to unregistered traditional doctors who are doing voluntary work by treating patients without expecting monetary gain in return.
Aiming to provide the services of the Ayurvedic Medical Council at the district level, this service is scheduled to be held for two days at the Thanna Ayurvedic Hospital, Matale.
This mobile service provides many services to traditional and Ayurvedic doctors, including receiving applications for new registration, renewal of registration of registered Ayurvedic doctors and issuance of related letters, issuing applications related to ID cards with the Ayurvedic Medical Council logo printed in accordance with the provisions of the Ayurveda Act No. 31 of 1961, issuing vehicle badges for registered Ayurvedic doctors, issuance of essential Sinhala certified copies, English certified copies, name change letters, registration confirmation letters, and character certificates.
