Tremor off Beruwala seas reported

A tremor of 3.7 magnitude has been reported from the seas off Beruwala yesterday. Geological Survey and Mines Bureau Acting Director General Janaka Ajithprema said this tremor has taken place 34 kilometers away from the Beruwala beach at around 1.02 p.m.

A number of areas including Beruwala, Maggona and Piliynandala have felt this tremor because of its low magnitude.This tremor cannot trigger a tsunami situation, he said.

A number of tremors were reported from Buttala, Pelawatte, Wellawatta, Kirinda and Gomarankadawala during the past few months.
