Trinitian Vibhavith Ehelepola a cricketing star in the making

He was born on 22nd of July 2004. He was admitted to Dharmaraja College Kandy in 2010. Six year old Vibhavith Ehelepola started Cricket under coach Gamini Debehepuwa at GDS Cricket Academy Kandy in 2010. He represented the GDS Cricket Academy team for the India tour in 2012.

He joined the Cricket Academy of Dharmaraja College Kandy in 2012 under Harold Ranasinghe well known veteran cricket coach and Chalitha Ratnayake. He represented Dharmaraja College under 13 ‘A’ team in the Singer under 13 division One tournament in 2015. He scored more than 150 runs and claimed more than 10 wickets. He scored more than 200 runs with two half centuries and claimed more than 15 wickets in the under 13 tournament 2016. He led the school under 13 team in 2017. He scored more than 300 runs with a century and two half centuries and claimed more than 15 wickets. He made unbeaten 100 runs against Vidyartha College Kandy. He represented the college under 13 team for three years under coaches Chalitha Rathnayake, Hasitha Thilakasiri.

He represented the school under 15 team under coach Indika Fernando in 2018. He scored more than 250 runs with a century and two half centuries. He made 102 runs against St. Sylvester’s College Kandy.

Vibhavith joined Trinity College Kandy from Dharmaraja College Kandy in 2019. He represented the under 15 ‘A’ team in the Singer trophy Division One inter schools Cricket tournament under coaches Rushan Jaleel and Thilina De Silva in 2019. He scored more than 350 runs with a century and three half centuries. He scored 100 runs against St. Mary’s College Kegalle and made half centuries against Nalanda Colombo (74), Vidyartha Kandy (55) and Gurukula Kelaniya (50). He helped Trinity enter the quarter final round in the season of 2019. and was selected for the Under 15 development squad maintained by Sri Lanka Cricket.

He represented Trinity College first XI team in the season 2019/20. He played only one match against Wesley College Colombo in this season under Kavinda Jayasooriya head coach and Naveen Ekanayake assistant coach. He represented the college first XI team in the division One tier ‘A’ limited overs schools Cricket season 2020/21. He was selected to the 75 member under 19 Cricket squad for the‘Residential Training Camp’ held from 12th July to 2nd August at Kandy. (YK)
