Trinity Cagers win under 20 and 17 titles

The cagers of Trinity College at one time who were in the top of the game of Basketball have once again asserted their dominance in Kandy. They were able to win the under 17 and 20 provincial event, by playing superb basketball. This was in the Central Province Championship, organized by the Department of Education, and the event took place at the St. Anthony’s Girls’ College Court few days back. A big hand should go to the head coach Susil Udukumbura, assistant coaches Shanith Godagama and Hamza Harish and also the teachers in charge of the game Mahesh Udurawana, Sulekshmie Bambaradeniya and Thanuja Balalle.

The under 17 side played well and this was their third win in a row, and the team was made out of basketballers like Tinuka Jamburegoda (Captain) , Savitha Gunawardane (Vice Captain) , Sandaru Kularatne , Adriel Jayasooriya, Theesara Galgodawaththa , Sanuth Wijeratne , Lakith Sirimanne ,Ravindu Herath , Sanchitha Wickrama , Thevindu Gamage, Nimesh Deen , Raviru Hitibandara , Matheesha de Silva and Lakindu Herath

The under 20 side had basketballers like Senuja Godaliyadda (Captain) , Parinda Ratnayake (Vice Captain) , Kevin Tennakoon , Jayageeth Basnayake , Jassim Rizvi , AveeshWanniarachchi , Sasitha Heenagama , Pawan Machchagama, Sanupa Jayasinghe.

They battled against Gateway College, Kandy, in the finals, and both sides played superb basketball, and the juniors won 54-05 and the seniors 38-15. In the under 20 final the most valuable player award was won by Senuja Godaliyadda the captain and Savitha Gunawardene was the standout player in the under 17 event.
