Trinity juniors win first leg of Simitharachchi Trophy

Trinity college under 16 team won the first leg of the CE Simitharachchi Trophyby beating Royal College under 16 team by 15 points (one goal, one try and one penalty) to 10 (two tries)at the Pallekele Stadium which preceded the first XVgame. In the first leg of the Bradby Shield which followed the junior game Trinity College fought back in the second half to win by 13 points (one goal, two penalties) to 10 (two tries) after trailing 0-10 at half time.

Flanker Thisanga Dissanayake scored the try for Trinity with fly half Shan Althaf making the conversion and firing across two penalties. For Royal full back Philio Calyaneratne and lock forward Buwaneka Senanayake scored the tries with scrum half Simak Shafeek missing both conversions.

The 1983 Trinity Captain Ashan Ratwatte was the Chief Guest and was introduced to both teams before the match.
