Two arrested for assaulting Kandy Post Office guard

Two persons who allegedly assaulted a security officer at the Kandy Post Office were arrested yesterday (11) on suspicion by the officers of the Anti-Corruption Division of the Kandy Police.

The security officer who was assaulted has been admitted to the Kandy National Hospital for treatment.

Police said that the two persons arrested on suspicion are trishaw drivers and they assaulted the security officer for not allowing the trishaws to enter the Post Office premises.

The suspects are residents of the Suduhumpola area of Kandy and investigations are being conducted under the direction of Chief Inspector Tilak Samaranayaka, OIC of the Anti-Corruption Division of the Kandy Police.
