Two arrested for causing commotion at hospital

Horowpothana Police arrested a Police officer and his friend who took an injured person and created chaos at the Horowpothana Hospital.

They were remanded until tomorrow (11) after being produced before the Kebithigollewa Magistrate’s Court.Police Sergeant D.M.S.C. Dissanayake attached to the Anuradhapura Police Station and J.C.M. Jayathilaka were remanded. Police said that both of them are residents of the Ralapanawa area.

The Police said that this Police Sergeant and his friend had brought an injured person to the hospital at around 11 p.m on April 6. When the doctors who examined the injured were going to admit him to the hospital, the Police officer and his friend had objected to it and asked them to treat the injury at that time and allow them to leave the hospital with the patient.

The doctors had said that it is not possible to do so, considering the condition of the injured person. Not accepting it, the Police officer and his friend had got into an argument with the doctors and hospital staff.

A senior Police officer said that the two suspects were arrested in the early hours of April 7 on a complaint made by the doctors and the hospital staff to the Police that they were threatened by the suspects.
