Two arrested in Weliweriya attempted murder

The Gampaha Police on Sunday (8) succeeded in arresting two suspects with a firearm who aided and abetted in the attempt to kill a person named Wegabatta who was travelling in a car at Jubilee Avenue, Weliweriya recently.

The Police said the suspects were a farmer and a man engaged in a money lending business from Baduragoda.

The attempt to kill the person named Wegabatta happened on August 5. The Police said Wegabatta was brought to Weliveriya with the help of a woman and he was shot at by two people who came on a motorcycle.

The Police had arrested several suspects, including the two arrested on Sunday over the murder attempt.

Weliweriya Police are conducting further investigations.
