The two much-talked-about luxury cars are due to be re-exported to the United Kingdom by the ship named ‘Mac Maria Saveria’, which is due to arrive in Sri Lanka today (16), Customs Director General, retired Major General G.V. Ravipriya said.
A video of two luxury vehicles on the expressway stating that they were brought to Sri Lanka in violation of vehicle import restrictions is being circulated on social media.
When asked the truth in this video footing circulating in social media he added the Customs was also able to watch videos of these two vehicles traveling on the expressway on social media.
“I would like to mention that these two vehicles were imported by a Sri Lankan company registered under the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka on a value added and then re-export basis. The company submitted its approval to the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) on February 11 for re-export of two Cadillac Escalade vehicles to the United Kingdom. Accordingly, the two vehicles will be re-exported today”, he added.
