Two-day workshop on Liver Microwave Ablation with open surgery on September 25 and 26
Liver Microwave Ablation (MWA) and Microwave Ablation combined with open surgery: an offline training programme for local and international doctors has been arranged to be held on September 25 Monday and 26 Tuesday from 8.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. by Colombo North Centre for Liver Disease (CNCLD) at Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Ragama.
The primary objective of the workshop is to offer practical training and foster active knowledge exchange in the field of ‘Microwave Ablation’ among radiologists specializing in the treatment of liver cancer patients from India and Sri Lanka.
This two-day workshop will consist of lectures, demonstrations, case discussions and practical sessions on microwave ablation using real time liver tumour ablations.
On the first day, special lectures on microwave physics, liver cancer treatment and sessions of microwave ablation will be held by Professor Nuwan Dayananda, Professor Madunil A Niriella, Dr. Chinthaka Appuhamy and Dr. Suchintha Tillakaratne.
On the second day, Professor Rohan Siriwardena, Dr. Bhagya Gunathilake and Dr. Eranga Ganewatta will hold special lectures and microwave ablations assisted by laparoscopic techniques in the operating theatre.
Both medical students and anyone with an interest in the field of medicine are welcome to take part in this training programme and gain invaluable knowledge and experience.
