Two killed in bowser crash in Aparekka
Two persons were killed and another injured in an accident which took place yesterday in the Malimbada Aparekka area on the Southern Expressway.
Police said that a lorry heading towards Mattala had been stopped by the road side yesterday morning and was being checked by an assistant driver.
The accident had happened when a fuel bowser travelling in the same direction had crashed into the rear of the parked lorry.
The assistant of the lorry had died on the spot while the driver and the assistant of the bowser were admitted to the Matara Hospital with serious injuries and the driver of the bowser succumbed to his injuries. The assistant of the lorry who died on the spot is a 72-year-old while the bowser driver is a 61-year-old. They are residents of Kadawatha and Gonawala.
The bodies of the victims are lying at the Matara Hospital while further investigations are being carried out by the Malimbada Police.
