Two more arrested over Dehiwala grenade attack

Two more suspects have been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the crime involving a grenade attack in Dehiwala that killed two children and seriously injured their father.

The Western Province South District Crime Investigation Division had launched an investigation into the incident, in which a grenade was thrown at a house within the Dehiwala Police Division.

Police said the main suspect in the attack and two others who allegedly assisted the crime had previously been arrested in the Ridimaliyadda, Dehiwala and Boralesgamuwa police areas. They have since been remanded in custody.

The latest two suspects were arrested following questioning of suspects who had been taken into custody earlier, police said.

Police also seized 11 grams and 960 milligrams of “ice” methamphetamine and a three-wheeler allegedly used in the crime.

The two suspects, aged 30 and 31, are residents of Piliyandala and Kahathuduwa, respectively. (Newswire)
